You know I had great fun doing this moleskin entry. One of the reasons that I started drawing and writing as a teenager was my fascination with the world of Lord of the Rings, I loved the maps and the made up histories that went along with them. The whole concept of world building is just a delightful idea where a writer or artist gets to play god in their own playground. I'm sure somewhere in my parents attic there are dusty sketchpads with maps and histories of made up worlds and this is my homage to them. Why now? Well I recently read that a favorite series of fantasy game books had just been re-released. With some serious nostalgia and delight in that series revival I wanted to play again and create something for myself.
This world is called Loc Lar Nir, and is generic medieval world of Darklords and magical knights who fight across the fantasy topography of mountains and forests filled with impossible creatures. The image below is an illustration from the story of the Sumerian, a immortal knight who decides to go on a foolhardy mission to slay the darklord. Yeah I know, hardly original material, but fun to create nonetheless. The image below is a departure for me too, as there are no words in the illustration, a first for quite sometime.

This is great info to know.
